If you look hard enough, you can find a parallel for your life in the Bible. That’s what I love to do. Look at my day or yesterday and see how God used me in comparison to someone in the Bible.
Challenge: Find your parallel in the Bible today.
I was certain this would be about planting a seed, reaping the benefits of a harvest. In terms of gardening, I wonder if there are particular seeds available on the market that guarantee a harvest of a bigger tomato or one that is richer in antioxidants, vitamins and supplements? Just a thought. Miriam, don’t know too much about her. Only that she positioned herself “...at a distance, watching to see what would happen...”
Exodus 2:7-9 (NLT), “Then the baby’s sister approached the princess. ‘Should I go and find one of the Hebrew women to nurse the baby for you?’ she asked. ‘Yes, do!’ the princess replied. So the girl rushed home and called the baby’s mother. ‘Take this child home and nurse him for me,’ the princess told her. ‘I will pay you for your help.’ So the baby’s mother took her baby home and nursed him.”
These words are written about Moses, his mom and Miriam. I am no doubt sure that Moses’ mom was absolutely thrilled to have her baby back in her arms. But today, I write about Miriam. She was leading from the middle. She was in the right place at the right time, doing the right thing. I am thrilled to parallel my adventure yesterday to hers a thousand years ago.
Sweet child, Janie, six years old. She is blessed tremendously by her adoptive parents - she’ll tell you all about her life, how wild and exciting it is. She embraces every day with joy for Jesus! Well, she had a garage sale and sold all her old clothes and wanted to take the proceeds of that and plant it into another little girl who lacked. That is where I came in. They asked me who to plant the seed of clothes into? I knew right away. A place where there was a need. A little girl who was also adopted, but the circumstances around her adoption was a hard pill to swallow for the grandma...who was doing everything in her earthly power to make a home for the child. So off we went to Wal-Mart. Two girls in tow. One to reap and one to sow.
I was filled with the joy of the Lord, as the evening unfolded. A shy little girl of few words. Stood, staring at the clothes to choose from. Don’t know what was going through her mind, but knew that it must have been overwhelming, because the silence was unbearable for me. Did she think it was a trick? Could she really pick out what she wanted? The choices were probably too much. She said her favorite color was blue, but she got mostly pink. Two Easter outfits, shorts, t-shirts, under clothes, tennis shoes, dress shoes and how much fun. Then to top it all off, Janie blessed her with the change of the seed she had intended to sow. The little girl now had seven dollars for herself! As soon as we got in the car, the new wardrobe was put on and off to Gatti Land we went. Pizza, games, cartoons, fun, laughter. Girls playing patticakes in the back seat. Singing, “Rain, rain, go away, come back another day.” Even with the hell storm that moved in, I rested in the assurance of Jesus that He positioned us in the right time, at the right place, doing the right thing. Smile from the heart.
